MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – In a bold countermeasure to Donald Trump’s latest tariffs on Mexican goods, Mexico has announced that it will only allow imports of Teslas equipped with internal combustion engines.
The move was designed to “preserve free trade while ensuring maximum irony”, according to Mexico’s Minister of Trade.
“We welcome Tesla vehicles to our roads, but only if they burn fossil fuels like a true American car,” the Minister of Trade stated. “We believe this policy will keep trade flowing while teaching a valuable lesson about unintended consequences.”
Experts predict that Tesla engineers are already hard at work designing a new “Model F” (for fuel) that features a V8 engine and a giant tailpipe where the charging port used to be.
Elon Musk responded on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “This is the weirdest compliance challenge we’ve ever faced, but we’ll figure it out. Maybe even add a turbocharger.”
Meanwhile, Ford and GM executives were seen high-fiving in the background, reportedly delighted that for the first time in years, a Tesla might actually have a worse fuel engine than those companies.
