Nobel Committee considers awarding Obama a second Peace Prize — “Just for Fun”

Trump, Obama

OSLO, NORWAY – The Nobel Peace Prize committee has announced that it is “seriously, but not too seriously” considering awarding former U.S. President Barack Obama a second Peace Prize.

The official statement reads: “We gave it to him once, and honestly, we’re still not entirely sure why. But he looked very presidential while holding it, so why not again?”

According to the official note, the idea came up during a brainstorming session when someone joked, “Remember when we gave it to Obama in 2009? That was kind of fun. Should we just… do it again?” The room reportedly erupted in laughter, followed by a very serious round of nodding.

Committee spokesperson Solveig Lund explained the rationale behind the initial thought: “The Nobel Peace Prize has always been about promoting peace, dialogue, and, occasionally, whimsy. Sometimes peace is ending a war. Sometimes peace is creating nuclear treaties. And sometimes peace is just giving Obama another shiny medal because, honestly, why not?”

Spokesperson Lund added, “We understand some people want to see the prize go to some other person, incumbent US President Trump, for example. But let’s be honest – giving Obama another one would be hilarious. And we are not hinting in any way that by doing that we would like to mock or tease the incumbent President Trump. No, not art all. Anyone saying that is just ridiculous and totally makes things up!”

Spokesperson also stated, “Of course, Obama did not end 20 wars within 6 months in office, but hey, we’re not here to judge! We are sure President Trump continues his good job, maybe the best job in history, in ending wars. And after president Trump has ended all wars in the world, then the committee may consider, actually we definitely will consider giving the Peace Prize to him in the future, everybody says that.”
