MOSCOW, RUSSIA – The Central Bank of Russia has reportedly proposed renaming the national currency from “Ruble” to “Trouble” in a bid to reflect the country’s increasingly tire economic situation.

The move, sources say, aims to inject a bit of dark humor into the country’s struggles while diverting attention from soaring inflation and a plunging exchange rate.

“We believe this rebranding aligns with the daily reality of Russian citizens,” said an unnamed Central Bank spokesperson. “When you hand over your paycheck, look at your wallet, and mutter ‘Here comes Trouble,’ it will at least make you smile before you cry.”

Economists, however, warn the new name could make Russia’s currency even less appealing to foreign investors, though some argue, “What do we have to lose? Literally nothing.”

The Central Bank of Russia has already begun redesigning banknotes to reflect the potential change, with early drafts featuring slogans like “The Trouble with Inflation” and “Making Ends Meet Since Never.”

Government critics have suggested the name change should apply to the entire economy, not just the currency, and jokingly proposed a new national anthem titled “Trouble in Paradise (If Only It Were Paradise).”
