CLEVELAND, OHIO – The world literally came to a standstill yesterday after a Mentos delivery truck catastrophically collided with another truck carrying thousands of Coca-Cola bottles.

The incident occurred on the I-90 highway, where several other drivers witnessed an explosion of carbonation so powerful that it sent soda geysers erupting up to 200 yards high.

Just minutes after the incident local authorities declared an “extremely sticky situation” and warned residents to avoid the location of incident.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as apocalyptic. One driver, still soaked in cola, stated, “I saw the two trucks meet, and suddenly it was like Mount Vesuvius had opened, except it smelled like my childhood birthday parties.”

Emergency response teams were deployed to the scene but have struggled to contain the chaos. The Mentos-Coke mixture created a reaction so intense that a foamy tsunami has started spilling into neighboring towns.

Residents have been advised to evacuate to higher ground or seek shelter in soda-proof basements, with government officials nervously reminding citizens not to open their mouths to taste-test the apocalypse.

The scientific community is in panic mode, as this unprecedented event has exceeded all known chemical reaction thresholds. “We’ve simulated this before with two-liter bottles and candy, but never on a scale this monstrous,” said Dr. Brian Fizzowitz, a leading carbonation expert.

“This much pressure could tilt Earth slightly off its axis if the fizz doesn’t stop expanding,” Fizzowitz added.

Countries worldwide are scrambling to send mop buckets, paper towels, and air fresheners to assist cleanup efforts.

As of now, global leaders are calling to calm while experts devise a plan to neutralize the fizzy catastrophe.
