STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – The Nobel Committee announced Tuesday that the U.S. President Donald Trump has been awarded the first/ever Nobel Comedy Prize for his “unmatched hilarious stand-up performance” at the 2025 United Nations General Assembly.
Judges praised Trump for transforming “what was supposed to be global diplomacy into an forty-five minutes Netflix special, live and unscripted.”
Diplomats in attendance described the event as “most hilarious, half open-mic night ever.” According to reports, Trump riffed on NATO dues, compared climate change to “bad air conditioning,” and delivered a five-minute bit on Canada’s “suspiciously polite accents.”
UN translators reportedly begged for intermissions, not to clarify words, but to catch their breath from laughing. One Italian delegate said, “I came for policy; I left with abs sore from laughter.”
The Nobel Committee defended its controversial new category, saying, “Look, curing cancer is impressive, but making 193 ambassadors laugh at the same time? That’s Nobel-level.”
They cited Trump’s signature joke – claiming his applause was “so huge, even North Korea stood up” – as the final punchline that sealed the prize.
Trump accepted via Truth Social, calling it “the greatest honor in human history, even greater than all the fake ones Obama got.”
He announced plans for a worldwide comedy tour titled “Make Jokes Great Again,” promising “stadium-sized crowds, no two-drink minimum, and the best laugh tracks, maybe ever.”
